Compliments to the Kitchen

Had only my second visit to Al Forno last night in the ten years that I've been in Providence. And I must say, it was some pretty good eating. Dave and I sat at the bar with friends Bridget and Allison, who work with Dave at New Rivers. They had been promising Leigh, Al Forno's lovely bartender that they would come visit her at the bar. We dined on the Al Forno classics, the Grilled Pizza Margarita and the spicy Clams Al Forno. For pasta, we had the Hand-Made Bread Gnocchi with Spicy Sausage. It was all fantastic. It almost made me want to buy their latest cookbook, On Top of Spaghetti, which gets shamelessly plugged many times in the menu. You’ll also find a mention of George Germon and Johanne Killeen's latest venture, Tini, soon to open downcity at 200 Washington St.

After dinner, the four of us walked to the Hot Club for a drink. It was a beautiful night, not to cold for sitting outside on the patio overlooking Providence's little harbor.
