When we were in Iceland last year our little apartment came with a stove top espresso maker. The Trader Joe’s coffee that we brought with us was delicious in it (even though it was a course french roast grind). I eventually bought the same espresso pot here in the states on sale at Macy’s. And I’ve since found the best and cheapest coffee to use in the maker: the old cuban espresso coffee Café Bustelo. At the local supermarket, a 10 ounce freeze-dried package of the coffee goes for $2.50! I remembered reading a story about the trendy makeover of Café Bustelo in the NYT a few months ago and looked up the article this morning.
Very savvy marketing! Their website is pretty cool too. I want an “I heart Café Bustelo” tee shirt!
